Hanoi to open cuisine, craft village fair for to draw tourism

Vietnam’s capital is to organize a traditional cuisine and craft village fair to promote tourism in the country as the city prepares to host the APEC Vietnam 2006 Forum.

The fair’s plan, which has recently been approved by Hanoi city authorities, is scheduled to take place from March 17 – 19 in 2006 in Thong Nhat (Re-unification) Park, said Huu Binh, vice director of Hanoi’s tourism department.

The fair will display flower exhibitions, musical performances, fine Vietnamese cuisine, and games to introduce Vietnam’s traditional arts.

There will be over 200 stalls, 11 cuisine areas and up to 40 trade villages at the fair, according to officials.

Besides, travelers visiting the fair will get the chance to learn about traditional craft villages in Hanoi and surrounding areas.

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum 2006 will be hosted in Vietnam from November 12-19, 2006.
