In September alone, Viet Nam
welcomed nearly 300,000 foreigners, bringing the total
number of foreign visitors to the country to 2.6 million
in the first nine months of this year, a year-on-year
increase of 23.3 percent.
Experts of the tourist sector attributed the recent surge
in the number foreign arrivals to Viet Nam to the effective
policy of visa exemption for citizens from a number of
countries.
The number of tourists from countries of the Association
of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to Viet Nam increased
dramatically in September - the number of Singaporean,
Thai and Malaysian visitors increased by 50 percent.
The number of travellers coming from the Republic of Korea
was up by 57 percent, while those from the Netherlands
and Belgium increased by 30 percent. They were followed
by those from France, up by 26 percent; from Norway, up
