In
a two-day meeting with leaders of the Mekong Delta province
of Kien Giang, the Cambodian Tourism investigation corps,
led by Mr. Thong Khon, Tourism Ministry Secretary of
Cambodia, showed their interest in the province’s scenic
beauty, infrastructure and tourism services, especially
marine eco-tourism and the provincial mysterious caves.
Cambodian tourist officials hope to develop the special
tourism form between Cambodia’s four provinces namely
Kandal, Takeo, Kam Pot and Kompong Thom along the border
with the southern Kien Giang province.
Tourism
co-operation between Cambodia and Vietnam not only helps
to develop the two countries' economy and society but
also strengthens border security and politics.
The
international trade between Cambodia and Vietnam is
carried out through the Xa Xia border gate in Viet Nam,
from which tourists can go to famous tourist attractions
of Ha Tien-Kien Luong section within one hour by car.
For
example, Thach Dong, Mui Nai, Hon Phu Tu (Father-Son
island) tourist area are 2 km, 8km and over 30 km from
Xa Xia respectively; moreover, it takes only one hour
to travel by sea from Ha Tien to Kep City, the seaside-tourist
city locating at Southwest of Phnom Penh.
Kien
Giang will be an ideal tourism destination for Cambodian
tourists once Phu Quoc Island is upgraded into an international-level
clinical resort center and marine eco-tourism.
Tourists can enjoy the cross-country overland and sea
tours.
